Wood Borer in the Columbia Valley!

We are monitoring a new forest health concern in the Columbia Valley this spring! A wood borer insect has been wreaking havoc on drought stricken trees from Radium south to the Cranbrook area. While these menacing bugs aren’t a new thing in our region, it is very unusual for them to be attacking and killing live standing trees! The tell tale sign to identify attack by these insects has been that the wood peckers have been stripping the bark off of trees in search for the larvae to feed on. We are standing by as the BC Ministry of Forest entomologists are determining whether there are effective strategies to mitigate further attack when the insects emerge later this summer. If you have a tree you are concerned about on your property in Radium, Invermere, Windermere, Fairmont, Canal Flats, Kimberly or Cranbrook please reach out and one of our Certified Arborists can arrange a consultation.

Innovation in Equipment!

In a quest to best serve our customers we have committed to investing in the Right People and the Right Equipment. New technology and mechanization is steadily improving both safety and efficiency in our trade. Introducing the newest weapon in our fleet! A track driven spider lift with 72’ working height. This EasyLift 70AJS36 will allow our team to safely access hard to reach, difficult and dangerous trees in front and backyards. With the ability to fit through a standard 36” gate and a low impact track driven drive means this machine will safely go where both bucket trucks and climbers are not able to go. Don’t get us wrong….we still employ and train the best climbers in the trade! But now we also have a very agile and versatile machine to provide safe, efficient and low impact tree work. Stump Grinding- How we measure and calculate costs

Stump Grinding- How we measure and calculate costs

We are often asked how we calculate pricing for stump grinding services. The short answer is it depends on a few factors; stump size, location, species, ground type (ie. rocky ground and steep slopes), surface roots and level of cleanup can affect the pricing. We have a basic formula taking into account a cost per linear inch which can give a rough idea of costs without needing a site visit.

How Much Does it Cost to Remove a Tree?

How Much Does it Cost to Remove a Tree?

Factors Considered When Determining the Cost of a Tree Removal:

Most factors, to some degree, are tied with how they affect the amount of time that is required to complete the tree removal process.

More dangerous jobs require more time to complete; Trees that are in a poor location will require more time to remove, and trees that are above homes or near other structures often involve rigging (lowering sections of wood with ropes, arborist blocks and pulleys) which will require more time to remove. Anything that takes more time, costs more money. Also equipment costs come into play. Often there no other options to safely remove a tree other than employing the use of a crane which will also add a significant cost to the project.

Our company has been assessed through random audits by WCB compliance officers and we have always met and exceeded their expectations.

TLC for a beautiful American Elm- Invermere BC

Proper tree pruning has many benefits to enhance trees in our landscapes. Green Leaf was commissioned to assess and provide pruning services on a beautiful American Elm tree on lake Windermere. Our skilled climbers removed dead wood and crossed and rubbing branches. We also raised the canopy above the cabin by making proper cuts to ensure the continued health of the tree. It was a pleasure to work on this tree!
